Meet the geiko
Dance and song on tatami, close enough to hear the breath.
Kanazawa still has three teahouse districts — Higashi, Nishi and Kazuemachi — where geiko continue to train. MEET the GEIKO brings that practice into a room where you sit near enough to see it properly.
Not a stage, but a tatami room. You hear the shamisen, the silk, the breathing. The performance runs 88 times a year and draws around 3,000 guests.
KAHACHI's founder sits on the organising committee of the Asanogawa Enyukai, which runs the performance. That is why we can shape the hours that follow it.
